The preparation for the international exams in Japanese language

The exam Nihongo Nouryoku Shiken or JLPT - The Japanese Language Proficiency Test is the only official exam determines the level of ownership by the Japanese as a foreign language.

The exam is held annually by the Japan Foundation.

In case of successful completion of JLPT, the candidates will get the Certificate of the international standard, adopted by the majority of Japanese organizations, except for the educational institutions, which since 2003 is necessary to provide specialized exam results - Nihon ryugaku siken.

The exam consists of four levels of difficulty, the candidate can choose the level that best suits his knowledge.

The fourth level of JLPT, easiest , requires knowledge of a minor amount of lexical items and the ability to read and write simple sentences , while the first level of JLPT, the most difficult to imply fluency .

JLPT exam content

Whatever the level of JLPT exam consists of three parts:

  • vocabulary and hieroglyphics,
  • listening and understanding,
  • reading and comprehension - grammar.

4 level

The fourth level of JLPT requires the knowledge of a minor amount of lexical items and the ability to read and write simple sentences.

To pass this level JLPT you need to know about 100 Japanese hieroglyphs and about 800 lexical units (words and phrases).

3 level

To pass the third level JLPT the applicant should know about 300 Japanese hieroglyphs and more than 1,500 lexical units (words and phrases).

2 level

To pass the second level JLPT you must know about 1000 Japanese hieroglyphs and more than 6,000 lexical units (words and phrases)

1 level

To pass the first level JLPT the applicant must know about 2000 Japanese hieroglyphs and more than 10,000 lexical units (words and phrases).
